Interoperability Committee

Purpose

The HIMSS Interoperability Committee focuses on advancing standards-based interoperability and emerging health information technologies that lead to impactful health information exchange.

As the healthcare landscape evolves, interoperability is a key driver towards achieving secure and accessible information, as well as realizing lower-cost and higher quality care.

Join us as we support HIMSS thought leadership activities on global and national levels, and contribute to HIMSS advocacy and policy efforts around interoperability and health information exchange.

Goals

  • Provide and inform HIMSS thought leadership on standards-based interoperability, health information exchange and blockchain-related areas.
  • Develop and promote education and awareness campaigns around relevant industry efforts and best practices anchored in standards-based interoperability, health information exchange and blockchain.
  • Support and facilitate the growth of HIMSS volunteer and chapter engagement within standards-based interoperability, health information exchange and blockchain-related content.
  • Cultivate collaboration opportunities across HIMSS and with other organizations to foster the integration of functionality across the continuum of care to achieve impactful health information exchange.

HIMSS Interoperability Call to Action & Interoperability Initiatives Environmental Scan

HIMSS asserts that we must achieve secure, appropriate, and ubiquitous data access and electronic exchange of health information, and provides guiding principles to inform health policy and spur our nation’s health sector to action.

The Call to Action was championed by HIMSS's Interoperability Committee and informed by their work to create the Interoperability Initiatives Environmental Scan.
