Social Determinants of Health Committee

What we do

The HIMSS Social Determinants of Health Committee focuses on advancing the meaningful integration of social needs data and community health into the global health ecosystem to inform care delivery and improve individual and population quality of life.

Our members provide and inform thought leadership on the importance of addressing social needs and advancing person-centered healthcare. We provide resources that:

  • Advance standards-based interoperability and meaningful health information exchange (HIE) to improve health and well-being.
  • Promote education and awareness around efforts and best practices anchored in advancing SDOH-data integration and utilization, standards-based interoperability and meaningful HIE.
  • Support and facilitate the growth of HIMSS volunteer and chapter engagement within SDOH-related efforts.

How can you participate?

Committee members are selected during our annual Call for Committee Volunteers. Positions are available on a two-year rotation for HIMSS members in good standing. Learn more about our eligibility and application deadlines.
